say something about taking a break. If I get something major I'll be posting it. As to this last prediction, I'm not worried about hits and misses. Actually it had three close hits. The Nevada M3.7 had the mag, but was off by a couple of hours and 20 miles. A couple of Hector aftershocks were within the boundary areas but off by .3 in magnitude. So it wasn't all that much of a failure. But this is something that needs to be worked on when calculating probabilities where the prediction should be allowed fuzzy boundaries (within certain agreed to limits). Actually, I think a prediction should be scored using a point system for each of the 3 parameters. Boy, we've got some good winds blowing through here right now. My interest in taking a break is due to many problems that are going on now. Some home related but most work related. I, and others, are feeling like yo yo's right now. The company that I work for, ARCO, is in the process of being bought out by BPAmoco and Sir John Brown. None of us know what is going on, when it will happen, and what will happen. Were all walking on egg-shells right now. That, and we're getting ready for Y2K as well where I'll be at work on the 31st thru midnight and well into the morning hours of the first. Yes, I do programming on the IBM mainframes (actually I'm a database administrator with IBM's DB2 with no backup personnel. We've been keeping to the bare bones minimum because of the BPAmoco buyout). So basically I'm stressed out with no end, or relief, in sight for the next few months. Because of this, I'm not paying as much attention as I should on the earthquake side of things. Hence the break for awhile. I do appreciate the concern that you've all shown both here on this site and privately. Dennis
