I'm not sure how to convey Agnes' talk in general terms. It is static rather than dynamic stress she considered.

One interesting aspect for me was the discussion of high likely it is that LA has a fault directly underneath delivering M7.5 earthquakes every thousand years or so (Dolan and Shaw, Science paper).

Mainly, it seems like the ruptures models, the structural models, and the hazard assessments are all progressing nicely, but without any big breakthroughs.

Heaton's poster about how a little shaking can really loosen up a building remain surprising.
