Don

1995 was the high year of a decade in my volunteers' reckoning, per the chart on monthly 6M quakes in the Earth and Sun Digest. These quakes are taken from the preliminary data, which show only 16 6M quakes in the whole month.

Certainly it confirms that August is one of the highest months. I had noted earlier that last year there were also two 7M quakes in August, without the Mars opposition.

So is the baseline for the second perigee no 6M quakes (per the first in August 2003), a 7M quake per the first (again August 2003), or elevated data in an unusual year? The total for August 2003 per my count shows August 2003 not to be the unusual, but the usual.

Nothing like complex data to work from, right, Don?
