California Safety Programs to Continue
overwhelming grass roots support for the State of California's seismic safety programs turned the tide against proposed budget cuts that would have suspended the programs and potentially led to the abolishment of the California Geological Survey. The proposed general-fund cuts were removed from the final State budget, which was approved in August, thanks to numerous individuals, geological organizations, and other activists who helped inform and educate legislators about the importance of these programs.
