on 26 August an ash plume visible on satellite imagery at a height of ~3 km



ETNA Sicily, Italy 37.73°N, 15.00°E; summit elev. 3,315 m

on 11 August a red puff of ash, gas emissions generally decreased



KILAUEA Hawaii, USA 19.43°N, 155.29°W; summit elev. 1,222 m

during 20-25 August surface lava flows visible on the coastal flat and upslope on the Holei Pali, NOTE also earthquake on 8/27 5.0M HAWAII



KLIUCHEVSKOI Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia 56.06°N, 160.64°E; summit elev. 4,835 m

during 15-22 August gas-and-steam plumes rose to 5.5 km



PITON DE LA FOURNAISE Réunion Island, Indian Ocean 21.23°S, 55.71°E; summit elev. 2,631 m

on 23 August three fissures active with lava flow for short periods of time



SEMERU Java, Indonesia 8.11°S, 112.92°E; summit elev. 3,676 m

during 11-17 August explosions with ash columns to 4.1 km



SOUFRIÈRE HILLS Montserrat, West Indies 16.72°N, 62.18°W; summit elev. 1,052 m

volcanic activity relatively low during 15-22 August, some very small rockfalls, sulphur-dioxide emissions from 400 to 900 tonnes per day, with the maximum on 18 August.



STROMBOLI Aeolian Islands, Italy 38.79°N, 15.21°E; summit elev. 926 m

Strombolian activity during the first half of August very intense at Crater 1, explosive activity at Crater 3 often accompanied by ash emission



TUNGURAHUA Ecuador 1.47°S, 78.44°W; summit elev. 5,023 m

on 20 August gas-and-ash emissions to a maximum height of 8 km, on 21 August emissions of mostly steam and small amounts of ash to ~6 km, on 23 August plumes to 7.5 km, on 24 August an explosion ejecting blocks ~1 km down the volcano's flanks
