Don, don't relax too much, if this fault is active. We are discussing whether it could rupture initially under, for example, the mainland-LA half way to San Diego. That the GPS shortening seen in downtown LA might be related to the shallow structures far offshore. That the system fire off beneath the mainland and propagate updip and offshore. Something like this happens in the Nepal Himalaya. Not the perfect analogue, but something to think about. But, we are just talking.....will take a funding and a few years before it is more than talk. Maybe the folds are "dead as a doorknob", as a reviewer once said about the Santa Monica Mountains thrust. But, I don't think so. One question is why there is so little seismicity out that far...
