The increase in seismicity in the North Bay in 1999 and 2000 does seem to be a bit reminiscent of the increase in the South Bay prior to the Loma Prieta event. 1984(Morgan Hill), 1986(Mt Lewis), 1988 & 1989(Lake Elsman) versus 1999(Bolinas),1999(Bennett Valley), 2000(Cloverdale series), 2000(Mt Veder/Yountville).
I wonder if we are going too see a similar sequence(similar to 1999 & 2000) of minor to moderate earthquakes during the next few months in the North Bay following the 4.2 on May 25 of this year in Santa Rosa? If we're lucky, maybe we will have future warning of a more major event on the Rogers Creek fault if one of the earthquakes motion mechanisms unclamps the fault.(Though things in life usually don't seem to happen as neatly as expected)
Next week I'll be driving up to the Russian River to work on a fixer I bought earlier this year. Think I'll drive by the Bennett Valley area you noted and take a look at the topography. steve.
