more ringmap questions

Don,

Motions are weaker past 100 degrees distance than closer. Why would MORE events be triggered in several windows beyond 100 degrees? I understand the antipode focuses, albeit in a frequency-dependent way, but why in the shadow zone?

I would have expected the surface waves are more associated with the peak motions, especially at long periods, and they don't know there is a shadow zone.

John
