Hi All. The last M>4.0+ quake to occur in the radius of Petra’s forecasted area was a 4.0Ml about 8 miles north of Hopland. This was on 12/14/2001.

The last M>4.0+ quake to occur in the Geysers area was on 12/08/2000. It was about 3 miles east of Mercuryville.

While M>4.0+ quakes are not rare in the area, they are not that common. The Berkeley “moment tensor solution” shows the quake to be a strike-slip on a dipping fault plane.
