Hi Chris - I'm not sure what to expect - I just thought it would be interesting to observe and see if anything does happen in those areas. My guess is it would be more likely directly below the moon during the eclipse or exactly opposite where the earth is bulging.

Another possibility is that it could actually lessen the effect as the sun and moon are opposite each other - I guess you could measure this by tidal measurements? I'm not really well versed in the astronomy of things - I just know the earth bulges a bit as the moon roams around it... and we have things called tides (and this particular event a Spring Tide as opposed to Neap tide)

There appears to be a perigee on May 15th 15:40 UTC and the full moon is May 16th 3:37 UTC - that's relatively close.
