Charts such as that one which I have recently added to one of my Web sites show what a number of different forces or phenomena looked like at the times when earthquakes occurred and when precursor signals were detected.

SUN AND MOON LATITUDE DATA

Sun and moon latitude data have now been added to that 131.html chart. And they will be added to the other charts at the site as time becomes available.

Those latitude data were something of a shock to me. In the past I have gone through the process of mentally picturing where the sun is above the Earth's surface at different times of the year. But for some reason I never really did that for the moon. I am going to have to check on this with the "Astro" Newsgroup people. But if my understanding of this is correct, once each month the moon revolves around the Earth in such a manner that it travels from being above roughly 25N to being above 25S and then back again. The sun does that as well. But its transit time from north to south and back north again is a full year.

Theories which I am have been working with for some time propose that the angle of the gravity related forces relative to an earthquake fault zone is important to earthquake occurrence times. And with the moon moving so quickly from one extreme to the other it means that those angles are constantly and rapidly changing. That is probably quite significant.

CHINA EARTHQUAKE DATA

Some data for this year's two destructive China earthquakes and a few associated precursor signals have also now been added to that 131.html chart.

CURRENT EFFORTS

As of late, most of the time that I have spent on this project has been devoted not to basic research but rather to learning how to quickly and efficiently generate those types of charts. They ultimately involve data being generated or manipulated by something like 15 different computer programs. It required a tremendous amount of time to generate the first charts. The process has now been greatly streamlined so that data flow fairly easily from one program to the next.

1990 - 2003 DATA CHART

I am still working on that chart which will probably be the last major one stored at the site. Once it is ready it should be possible to begin having detailed discussions regarding this subject matter. Comparisons will be possible between data for earthquakes and precursor signals which occurred or were detected in different years. For example, it will be possible to see how those 17, 8+ magnitude earthquakes I have been studying look compared with one another.

ADVANCED RESEARCH

From what I can tell, what people are seeing discussed here represents part of the very forefront of this type of research. In the past it was never possible to examine all of these different types of data at one time. And I am expecting that this research will evolve fairly rapidly into an important part of the future for earthquake science.
