Canie, I don't really expect that the North Anatolian fault will shut off now. The length in space and time of the seismic gap in Marmara Sea near Istanbul is open to debate. I don't think a big earthquake there in the next couple of decades is quite as sure a thing as many have proposed. But, they still better do something about their construction and do it fast. Even if the historical record shows correlations and anticorrelations, I don't really see why this should be in Turkey-it might have been the case for the last 2000 years, but may not be the case for the next 2000 years.
