Mars Opposition and Gravity Shifts -

Hi All -

Maybe I have no business stating the title as such. However, is there any information on the August 2003 Mars opposition and probable effects regarding quakes.

Background: Right now planet Mars is approximately 1.07 astronomical units (93 million miles; Earth - Sun distance) from Earth. By August of this year, it will be 1/3 of an astronomical unit, or a mere 34 million miles. In terms of astronomical distance, this is a stone's throw.

This is the closest Mars will be in (an estimated) 73,000 years. The only thing closer will be our own Moon.

So, does this give rise to any concern (other than the symbolic Roman god of war stuff :-) )

Chime in . . .

Tony
