Question For EQF/Not So Deaf Ears

Hi EQF,

I was reading post 18470 in which you gave this response to Don regarding fault stress:

"Don, the percursor signals that I work with such as "Ear Tones" are not generated until a fault zone has accumulated enough strain that it is about ready to fracture. And that is then the time to begin using those charts etc. and start looking for an earthquake."

I believe your experiences with ear tone reports go back a lot further than mine, perhaps at least ten years, so you have a really good background in this area. In my four years in reading ear tone reports I have never seen anyone on US shores who has ever reported an ear tone for a country outside of Canada or Mexico. As most of your work is outside of these area's, do you have people in foreign countries who supply you with ear tone reports?

Thus I have to ask, if you have this individual who is really reliable in ear tone reports and has a 90% record on hits, if your Sun, Moon and tidal data do not support the ear tone report would you pass on making a warning waiting for the combination of all of the data to point to one specific location?

Or what happens if you have an ear tone reporter who is really accurate and your Sun, Moon and tidal data never support the ear tone reports, but they are correct 90% of the time, what do you do then?

I may be a little slow on understanding the development of your program, so please excuse my ignorance, if I have missed something. The program is supposed to give you information as to where large earthquakes should occur, based upon Sun, Moon and tidal data, but you said that when you have ear tone reports is when you start looking for possible epicenters.

There is something missing here. Either the program is going to do your work for you and provide the locations of future epicenters, or it won't. Any other data that supports what your program indicates is good, but it cannot influence the original data which is supposed to be the answer the earthquake prediction puzzle.

Therefore, if your program is all that it is intended to be, why do you need to have ear tone reports? This program should do everything on its own, is that correct?

I am so confused.....Petra
