Hollister M>2.9 Quake

Hi All. I felt the little M>2.9 quake we had this morning although just barely. The “first motion mechanism” shows it as being “pure strike slip” which is what you would expect to see for quakes associated with the San Andreas Fault or the Calaveras Fault in that area.

This quake however was different then the others we have had in that area. We didn’t hear this one before feeling it. There wasn’t any noise at all before or during the quake. We usually hear a “bang” before feeling the quake. The quake appears to be centered in between the San Andreas Fault and the Calaveras Fault in the area where there is a good number of small fractures so this may be the reason for not hearing it. The quake was more like a rocking motion with no sharp jolt. Take Care…Don in creepy, but now and then shaky town
