Far Field Aftershock Theory not THAT mysterious

The occurence of FFA monotonically decreases with distance from the mainshock, so far as we know. The standard explanation is either the shaking set off the aftershock with a delay. The shaking near beyond 1000 km distance is very weak indeed.
