4.6 Bullion fault, 6.8 New Ireland |
There was a 6.8 in New Ireland, followed by about 12 hours by a 4.6 in the Mojave-it looks like near the S end of the mapped Bullion fault. I'm not sure exactly how close this is to the Hector Mines rupture. Lowell W. had noted this correlation between eastern P.N.G. and southern California before. We looked at this a little (Roger H.) and it was not convincing, but we may not have compared the correct regions.....I looked for this in Lowell's thesis and this sort of stuff is not in it.... Will we get more M3+s in southern California in the next day or so-would not surprise me-I think M3+s cluster in time in SOCAL, but I guess someone could graph this.
