On February 20, 2003 I circulated an earthquake warning update to quite a few groups and individuals around the world. And I thought that it represented a remarkable example of earthquake forecasting. However, when that destructive earthquake occurred in China on February 24 it sounded to me like no one had any idea when or where it was going to occur. Improvements are needed somewhere! My present theory is that our world’s computer programmers might represent one of the best hopes that we have for getting effective forecasts generated and circulated. I have what I believe could be a good plan for getting them involved. And in between attempts to get governments to look at Shan’s forecasting program I am trying to decide on the best computer languages to use. Windows Script and in particular Jscript looks attractive for controlling computer programs. And I am checking on using PERL for data processing. First I have to determine if PERL can be downloaded and run on my home computer. If so then this latest effort should be getting underway. Finally, good luck with the safey efforts you have been discussing.
