Just Thinking

Hi All. Being as how I’m always thinking, despite the fact that it gives me a headache I thought I would share my thoughts with you. Maybe it will give you headache to.

The M>5.4 quake in Hollister in 1998 only had one aftershock that was above M>3.0 over a 7 day period. This was an M>3.3.

The Yountville M>5.1 quake only had one aftershock above M>3.0 over the same time period. This was an M>3.7

The Big Bear City has had 24 quakes above M>3.0 and 7 days hasn’t gone by yet.

The Hector Mine quake had 239 quakes above M>3.0, but it also released more then 900 times the energy as the M>5.4.

There is a lot of energy being released with the Big Bear City quake although no where near the level of the Hector Mine quake, but considerably more then either the Hollister, or Yountville quake.

A logical explanation for the Hollister aftershocks being so low is that we have so many darn many quakes around here it blew it all with that one quake. To be quite frank with you I was kind of surprised it even found enough energy to cause a quake of that magnitude in that area to start with.

Don’t have an explanation for the Yountville quake. Nor do I have one for the Big Bear City quake. It’s going to be interesting to see what’s next on the agenda. Take Care…Don in creepy town
