After reviewing the location and events in recent years I suppose this is a rare location but certainly not unheard of. It looks like this is the largest event since 1/1/1999 when there was a 3.5 about 20km from this location. On NEIC the following two events were the closest match I could find to todays event.

1991 09 06 234105.90 34.85 -119.24 12 3.20 (8km away)
1992 10 16 204524.53 34.85 -119.23 11 3.00 (9km away)
1999 01 10 152018.04 34.94 -119.22 3 2.90 (12km away)
2001 09 29 115001.04 34.99 -119.46 15 3.10 (17km away)

I suppose we could all kick back and put our feet up and watch to see if anything happens as Don would say :-)
