Human Nature Being What It Is

Hi All. Now that the dust has settled I have a feeling that geoForecaster won’t be around very long. Not because the program they have doesn’t work, because it does indeed work, but because of the nature of the human being. They don’t want to know when an event is going to have a major impact on their lives and they especially don’t want to pay to know when it’s going to occur.

They would prefer going through life like the ostrich with his head stuck in the sand (not so) feeling that if they don’t know about it it won’t happen, or something like that. Most people don’t like to plan for a major event, as they want to feel safe and secure all the time. If they have to plan for a major quake, or some other disaster they loose their sense of security.

A couple of years ago I did a little unscientific survey of the people that live in the mobile home park I live in. Almost every one of them said that would rather not know when a major quake was going to strike. The reason given was that they have enough problems with just getting by on a day-by-day bases without having to worry about a major quake. Most of them feel that they won’t be around when it happens anyway as their time like mine is getting short so why should they be concerned. My better half is one of those. She doesn’t even want me to talk about earthquakes around her.

Wait until she learns I will be getting the data again. I will be in the bow-wow house again, or is that still? Take Care…Don in creepy town
