John, Petra
Petra, as we've discussed before, IK think funds fro preparedness come from different sources than for basic research.

John, Lowell Whiteside used to regurally post on this page, but now chimes in only rarely. He has a lolt of interesting ideas, and some credibility because his Comps project in Colorado from about 1990 was about distant triggering by P and S waves (2 years before Landers). Lowell is probably pretty annoyed at me because I've been questioning things that are stated as fact on this page-solar triggering, Far field aftershocks, etc. I still think these are interesting, but in my causual more or less daily observation of the USGS California and NEIC global seismicity, and a couple of tests that Roger Hunter did, these do not seem to be overwhelmingly strong effects-I've been asking someone with more motivation than me (remember, this is a hobby for me) to do simple graphs for cause and effect. Roger has done a couple, but he's mostly disappeared from this page....Chris
