Well - there is a lot of debate on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in our atmosphere and what will happen - (I have a final on that very subject tonight)

Some obvious points to make here is that this article is on the Arctic Sea Ice - not Antartica -

Also the ice that's melting (sea ice) is already in the sea, so it won't affect ocean levels.

Scientists aren't really sure what can happen - the global warming could trigger another ice age ! More evaporation causes more clouds which reflect more of the sun's heat and voila! Cold !

There is no doubt that in the last 100 years we have done more to destroy this planet's ecosystem that in the last 5000 years - Mostly due to fossil fuels and Ozone depleting gases (CFC's, Methyl Bromide, Halon, etc)
