I'm in Santa Barbara-was a bit of frost on the bridge rollerblading in this morning, but still 15 deg warmer than home in suburbia. I think Don's definition of what is useful in a prediction is too narrow. There is more to this than getting people out of their houses. If you knew there would be a 6+ in a 1 month period over a 100 km radius, but with high confidence that it would happen, a lot of precautions could be taken. Or, some of us are more interested in the science of this-if there is any relation in occurrence by triggering that is clearly above chance, it tells us something about how quakes occur.......
Back to mapping the Santa Monica-Dume fault connection to the Malibu Coast with a student (I'll have to ask if he wants to be mentioned by name). Canie-what would you like to hear about for Santa Monica Bay of I give a talk at Pac Section AAPG? Should I mix Marmara Sea with Santa Monica, or leave it to Santa Monica?
