You're right, every now and then those who should want to knock the socks off of the other, suddenly behave with great diplomacy.

I saw this once in Oakland. Two military officers had been in an accident together. One of them had been drunk and he sliced the other guys car in half when he hit him head on. Just a moment before the accident the person who was struck had placed him arm around his little daughter and brought her close to him. Neither he or his daughter were injured. If the same accident happened today because of car seat laws, the little girl would have died.

But meeting in the office where I was several days later it was interesting. The drunk driver had a multitude of stitches all over him and the other none. They looked at each other and very nicely shook hands as though nothing important had happened.

Apparently their lessons in behaving as officers and gentlemen at all times was in evidence at that moment in time. For me, I would have wanted to kill the drunken driver and give him a little more than a few stitches. Oh well. LOL
