Day Three - AGU - Playing Hookey
Posted by Petra Challus Don Eck on December 08, 2002 at 16:18:45:

Hi All,

Well it was a nice day and too good to be sitting indoors, all locked up, so we played hookey today. But not like you think.

We took Roger Musson out to the Marin Headlands for a picnic. No, we did not lasso him and tie him to the hood of the car, but invited him, in ordinary way. And he accepted the invitation.

We have a wonderful time viewing the geological features, the old military remains and viewing the ocean as it sits so very close to the San Andreas Fault. Of course as you've no doubt seen, there were no earthquakes. Ah shucks! As Don says, "there's never one around when you want one."

It was so good to smell the ocean and watch the surfers. Though they didn't do so well today, the waves were on the low side. But a good day for walking and talking and good enough to eat out-of-doors.

Tomorrow though, its back to the education mines with a full day of lectures from 8:30 - 5:00.

We wish all of you could have been with us today. It was a very special day.

Petra & Don
