Hi Canie. Thanks for the post. I kind of thought this was going to be the case when I started plotting the quakes. They were starting to appear to be east of the Calaveras fault, but not knowing the accuracy of the new map program I have I wasn’t sure as to what I was seeing. The other thing that bothered me was the “first motion mechanism.” They weren’t the typical ones you see with a strike slip fault. Some were, but not all of them. Now I know why. This may also explain the sudden increase in creep in the SJB area. The whole Bay Area from the San Andreas fault to the east side of the Calaveras fault moved. It could be possible, but as to how probable it is I have no idea. How much of an affect this will have on the Bay Area in general is any ones guess at this time. I know from my point of view there is a chance that the stress may have increased in the North Bay. That is only a guess on my part. Take Care…Don in creepy town
