Rodgers Creek et moi

Hiya Don,
You are too sweet (keep it up :)
I'm a bit baffled by the map, as I had this up years ago and I was in the yellow section and the red was on highway 12 - is this updated from years ago? I see my road perfectly, btw.

I'm a lot like Petra (except for the wahooing!) in many ways, as we have come to find out, and one of them is survival mode. I think partly for me, it reminds me of a mother protecting her babes and family. I didn't tell you I was a full-fledged Girl Scout in my uh-hem, younger years ;-) Yes, I fought with the best of them LOL. My husband and oldest son both got their Eagle status and middle son is almost there.
Ten year old daughter will just have to live with the pack I suppose, and grow up rather quickly.
On a very serious note, I have had a survival 'trunk' packed since last October. I made sure everyone in the family helped me and that they know where everything was put. Originally I had it in the garage because of the rainy season, but then came to realize if the house fell off the foundation I may not be able to get to it, so I moved it outside on the side cement slab. My kids made a heavy duty ping pong table a while back from leftover construction wood and the trunk is now under that. This afternoon we're getting a big tarp to put over all of it to keep it dry.

We have food and water to last up to about a week per person, all the emergency gear, a bag full of extra clothing and shoes, an extensive medical kit, dust masks, toilet paper, etc and even a dog cage to put our two cats into (along with cat food). We even have 2 tents if we need them.

So if and when good 'ole Mother Nature decides she's going to take a visit on my Rodgers Creek fault, I may not Wahoo, but I am prepared and I am a survivor - we all are. Thanks SO much for the post, Don!
