Re: A successful World Series “NO EARTHQUAKE” prediction

Amusing. An important point is that this was one of these fairly rare cases where a real earthquake forecast was actually needed. One was generated and circulated. And it worked. People outside the earthquake forecasting community wanted to know if an earthquake might upset the World Series games. And they knew where to find at least two people who they believed might provide them with that type of information. I am guessing that Dr. Jim Berkland was contacted by that Reuters reporter. I am also guessing that this provided him with an opportunity to generate a forecast for a location for which I expect he has some of his best data.

Also note that my own forecast data were posted here before the time window of interest.

News service is interested in World Series earthquake forecasts http://www.earthwaves.org/wwwboard/messages/17054.html

However, the main reason that I circulated that report yesterday was because I wanted to make some information available to people regarding that fault zone interaction type interference. I have been trying to learn how it works for years. If it is real then I believe that it could be quite important to earthquake forecasters around the world.
