Re: Petra, You Made Your Point |
Hi Don, Just so our readers will understand the quake in your area; let me clarify the report. I sent Don an e-mail last night and during writing the e-mail I heard a 3 second right ear tone and told him to expect a 3.0 quake in his area. That was sent to him at 9:40PM. As for Alaska, it was a failure for the correct area which I feel greatly disappointed in. However, if I recall correctly, it is the only 6+ quake to strike the west coast since the Nisqually, WA quake on 2/28/01. In this I also see hope because if I can see a large quake coming for an area in general without any formal training and without the use of any instrumentation or any mathmatical formulas used, then for those who are way ahead of me and far more educated than I, they could do much better. But I doubt anyone will come forward and claim any success even if they saw what I was seeing. I haven't seen any news stories yet, but I was relieved to learn the epicenter only has 30 residents (much like Parkfield) and in that I feel a little relief. I hope there was no loss of life, serious injuries or major damage.
