Your dream was very reminiscent of dreams I had during the early 1980's. At that time I kept having dreams of little Japanese toddlers and they would be walking very oddly, like an earthquake was occuring and they were trying to keep their balance. Without fail every time I had one of those dreams the very next day they would report an earthquake had occurred in Japan. This happened so many times I don't recall how often it was.

Though a 7.5 on the Hayward Fault could occur, because of your note of the ages of the children I would expect a 5.7 instead. So if it arrives, at least I hope it will only be a 5.7.
