Hi Carol. The Brazil quake was most likely triggered by the Indonesia quake as it lays at the edge of shadow zone.

The Brazil quake is also at the low end for generating FFAs along the West Coast of the U.S and else where in the world. However the faults that will most likely be affected by this quake are the east/west trending faults along the West Coast. The reason for this is that the FFA impacts more of the east/west trending faults at one time then it would a north/south trending fault. In other words it's moving across the fault as opposed to moving up, or down the fault.

The FFA of the Indonesia quake will have a greater affect on the north/south trending faults then the east/west. Not really sure as to how these two are going affect one another. Take Care…Don in creepy town
