Hi Roger. How does one get a track record unless one tries? If we have to wait for that to happen then earthquake prediction has no chance of ever succeeding. No matter how many times a person was correct in private doesn’t matter. Those at the top will never let it happen in light of the lawsuits they could face if the person was wrong the first time they went public.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know this. A lot of people are going to have die and or be injured before we see a person take that first bold step at going public.

In some ways USGS is responsible with their halfhearted attempt at educating the public about earthquake preparedness. The only time I have ever seen anything on the TV in regards to preparing for a major quake is after we have had one. The further we are removed from the last major quake the less you see or hear about preparing for one. The old saying “out of sight, out of mind” fits here all to well. Take Care…Don in creepy town
