Yes...however it was consistent (I think) with what Lowell had discussed...that distant quakes are feasible on the same (or adjacent?) plate with distance not being a mitigating factor...when hurricanes make landshore, etc.

I don't think he made a strong case ...citing only one example that I recall....

In any case, I thought that just for interest's sake...why not draw attention to it again...just to see if we could spot a consistent (and unusual) quake that fits the idea....

So far, the M3.7 I cited earlier fits the bill insofar as being 'under the hurricane' track....
There may be a few others that Lowell may have cited as well...possibly the NM quakes...and maybe the puerto rico quakes...not sure.

In any case, either we (I) got on Lowell's nerves a little too much or whomever muzzled him indefinitey when he "signed on" as a consultant somehwere's....either way...he ain't talking.

Consequently the speculation regarding Lowell's speculations on the hurricane's effects...seismically speaking of course.

Low pressure systems have been implicated in seismicity (Per Lowell's prior sited reference) as has wave height (due to gravitational effects) so "along the path" isn't such a big stretch insofar as higher seismicity goes....

If hurricane isidore reverses direction (doubtful at this point it seems) then maybe the M3.7 in the gulf will sound off again...???

Your contest above kind of implies the prior work of the ref. cited...that low pressure may trigger increased seismicity.... It appears that this idea has been bantied about before....

I agree that for those interested it is an interesting thing to keep an eye on/watch...(of course that's a redundant sentence isn't it...:-)
