Something which I have been saying for years to other people interested in earthquake forecasting is that they should talk about their efforts right now rather than wait until some future date. The reason is that sooner or later, scientists are going to develop accurate ways of forecasting earthquakes. And when that happens the work that most people are doing at the present time may become completely meaningless.

The point is, you can either share what you know with other people now and perhaps have it do some good, or risk having to take that knowledge with you when you someday depart this world headed for your eternal reward. What good will all of your discoveries do then?
