Re: Best programming language to use question

I am presently making a concerted effort to get this proposed computer program developed. Most of the focus at the moment involves locating a sponsor interested in backing such an effort. If all else fails I may attempt to raise funds myself through a company that I recently got running for such purposes.

TrueBasic is one language which has been recommended in the past. I would be interested in hearing how it compares with other languages such as Fortran and C.

This is probably going to be a computer programming nightmare. One reason is that three of the important data generation programs which would be used have probably already been written in completely different languages. So the source codes would need to be located and translated. The most serious problem could be the fact that geophysicists would probably need to be involved with each step of program development. It cannot simply be written to follow “cookbook” instructions, something which I expect most computer programmers would prefer. I believe that it needs to be able to show how rock layers in earthquake fault zones around the world are being bent, stretched, and compressed at any point in time. And that means somehow adding together all of the forces which are acting on them at a given moment such as ones associated with ocean tides and the Solid Earth Tide.

It will probably take me at least another week to finish contacting different potential sponsor groups around the world to see if any might be interested in such an effort. In the mean time I thought that I would start asking about possible programming languages in order to get another part of this effort underway.

One ray of light is the fact that early versions of the program which I myself have been using work in my opinion. And I would expect that more advanced versions should produce better results.
