Hi Canie. Speculation is right. A lot of speculation. I don’t think the activity occurring at the same time with Mt. St. Helens and Long Valley is due to pluming (can’t rule that out though) but more likely due to plate movement. Although I’m not sure as to how that might occur without a disturbance at other locations in between the two. Maybe there was, but it was so subtle that we didn’t see it.

One thing for sure. The fault system along the West Coast is very complex and it is doubtful that all the answers will ever be found. It’s sort of like being shanghaied. You know you’re going somewhere, but have no idea as to where that somewhere is. Take Care…Don in creepy town
