Re: 10th Anniversary of Landers/Big Bear Earthquakes

Hi All! I remember the Landers-Big Bear sequence well - I did get some damage from it in my mobile home that I lived in at the time. Just enough damage so that it was weakened for the Northridge quake -

The thing I think was most important about the quake was the triggering at Mammoth and Yellowstone that occurred and was recognized during this quake. Also the study of the stress that eventually produced the Hector Mine quake. (which in turn has stressed the Coso area I think)

It sure is nice to be back home in the good ol' US of A - I haven't read over all the posts here on the board since I've been gone - I did read something about Mobile homes from Don - I had earthquake bracing put on my home after the Northridge quake (courtesy of FEMA) - I definitely felt better with that modification. Now I'm in a typical wood-frame house in Long Beach and its supposed to be bolted to the foundation.

I guess the only quakes of note while I was gone were the Iran quake that killed 245 at last count and a 5.0 in Indiana of all places! I'm sure happy we didn't have anything large in California. (or should I say damaging?)
