WOW. This is making the rounds again? Not that it's a hoax, as it is a real warning. I'm just surprised it's circulating again. I last got that email around 4 years ago. HOWEVER, this is NOT a common occurance from what I understand in the healthcare setting. The water from what I've read, shouldn't come up very high, and then, not the entire cup of it. Only the amount splashed by the air bubble finally surfacing. Wooden sticks will prevent it, so will tapping the cup while it's still in the microwave with a spoon to jar it a little before you pick it up. Personally, I've nuked water many many times, for short and long periods, and have never had that happen yet. (but also, tend to jar the cup since I read that email 4 years ago :) ). Apparantly, using a tapered cup also seems to help. George
