Let It Begin With Me

Hi All,

It's been a fairly active earthquake week and perhaps this week may be the week that the near 7.0 or larger quake arrives. If it does then that furthers the research done on that particular fault, the education process extends and it's possible, from studying the epicenter, in question, new answers to fault behavior may be at hand.

For some reason I remembered a moment in time a few years ago when I was at a funeral and the Priest asked each attendee to turn to their right and then their left and shake hands with their seating partners and say, "Let it begin with me."

Tonight in retrospect of those scientists who have dedicated their lives, both in their working hours and most of them long past that time, let it begin with me in saying I admire your dedication to your work and understand fully your fascination in trying to understand something which seems so elusive.

To Lowell Whiteside, Chris in the Burbs, Roger Hunter and the other scientists who have visited this board, offered their learned opinions, time to teach we fledglings in simple language why things are the way they are, and further our education by their dedication, I will say to all of you, Thank You.

Let the day not be so short we forget to say a word of thanks for your efforts and others in your field whose work we often reference and use as guideposts in education. Your gifts have a value beyond mere currency.

But thanks also to my fellow board members who give of themselves in reaching out, reflecting their own study and for taking time to share it here, with us and our readers. Your efforts are appreciated and exceptional.

Try to imagine a day thirty years from now, what would have occurred, what is occurring then and how much progress will have been made. Probably, it's beyond our ability to think of such things.

Petra
