Hi Joy, et al, This is slightly off from the above, but still within range I think. A few years ago the USGS did a test on the RCF to see how seismic energy would travel from this fault-line using very small detonations along the fault. The results were interesting. Unlike some faults where the energy travels outward in a circle from the location of the detonation, our RCF produced a hot dog configuration. This rather surprised the researchers and gave them pause to realize that when a real earthquake arrives it will go up & down the fault moreso than outward. As I understood the news article about the research project, this type of result would be more serious than the doughnut arrangements as it would cause fault acceleration. But hey, its been 30+ years since we had the last quakes, so we may never get to know what happens if a 5er ever arrives. I've been next to my backyard buddy for 15 years and so far nada. Petra
