Hi Tony,

When I got up this morning I read your message and immediately thought of Barbara Walters and Hugh Downs and thought back on how surprised I was when I learned they didn't get along at all and yet the public had no cognizance of this.

Don and I have a terrific friendship and its because we have a common interest and a common goal. We are interested in seismology and we both want to see public earthquake prediction come to fruition. Out of that interest we also saw a need for public awareness of earthquake safety education, which we saw largely lacking, and still is for that matter.

But to be honest, we get on each others nerves. He drives me nuts and I do the same to him, but we have enough time when we don't to do some serious work on many projects. Lots of them you never hear about around here.

There are a thousand and some posts yet to be made that I believe are interesting, thought provoking and educational that either together or separately we may bring to the forefront. Those will emerge from some good healthy discussion, a little arguing and finding a common ground where we both feel we can offer something worthy of posting.

Yesterday while on a hunt for something like Red October in my office I came across a piece of paper that I had hoped I hadn't tossed out. It was the confirmation from the Department of the Army about an investigation I had done 3 years ago in regard to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal. What find that was! That's a story many would like to put behind them and yet its right out there on the web anytime anyone wants to read about it. Its has some real heart and soul and provides an education on a topic everyone should be aware of. Fluid injection for the disposal of chemicals, which results in creating earthquakes is not a good thing.

But on the fun and games side, you won't find any two people who can laugh as much as Don and I do. We have some real side busters going at times and then the hi-jinks begin. That's how the creation of the "Who's doing it" contest got started. Just kidding around, laughing and coming up with some screw ball idea.

Having said the above, I'll bet Don has a word or two he'll try to fit in edge-wise. Go ahead Don, I can top you in a heartbeat!

Thanks for the nice comments Tony. They are appreciated.

Petra
