Saw your message about getting a fix on latitude/longitude for Chantry Flats.

Well, its in Newhall, CA. I recognized the name Placerita Canyon and know exactly where it is, since I lived in Valenica/Newhall area many years ago. Its in the Santa Clarita Valley, north on the 5 Fwy then the Hwy 14 turnoff/exit. And there it is! Its known for the California Golden Oak which has a history of about 1800 and something. So, you'd drive out of LA, then thru the San Fernando Valley over to Valencia/Newhall. Placerita Canyon sits in the San Gabriel Mts. and there is also the historic Santa Clarita Divide!

Now you can get a good fix on the lat/long.!
