Hi 2 Cents. Chert is a flint-like (glassy) sedimentary rock composed mostly of silica. Chert nodules may be deposited by precipitation of silica in voids left by organic decay.

Petra has some that she found down at Parkfield and also some that she found near the ocean. If I remember correctly the light green chert was found down at Parkfield. She also found some jasper, but not a very good quality. Lots of fractures in it. One piece does appear to have some petrified wood in it.

She found a piece of banded sandstone that was identified by the local geologist at Parkfield as a rock common to Arizona. Have no idea as to how it got to Parkfield. She found it in a cemetery, which happens to be located on the Pacific plate. Take Care…Don in creepy town
