Hi All. Here is the quake summary for today.

Global seismicity was at moderate levels today. Two earthquakes were registered in the Vanuatu Island. The first was 4.4Mb early in the day and may have been a foreshock to the 5.9Mb later. In Peru there was a 4.7Mb and in Argentina there was 4.8Mb. On the southeast Indian Ridge there was a 4.9Mb and in the Fox Islands, Aleutians there was a 4.1Mb. South of Sumatra there was a 4.8Mb and off the coast of Oregon there was a 4.0Mb.

The largest event of the day in the U.S./Canada region was the 4.0Mb, which occurred off the coast of Oregon this afternoon. A smaller foreshock occurred in the same area earlier this morning. In the same general region, a 2.5Ml was in northern California, near Eureka, the largest event in the northern California/Nevada region today.

Two other earthquakes of 2.2 and 2.3Ml were located in eastern Washington State near Vantage and Entiat. A minor swarm in the Yellowstone Park area continued today and included events of 2.3 and 2.2Ml this morning. A 2.2Ml was also recorded north of Jackson Lake in the Grand Tetons.

The eastern and Central portions of the U.S. and Canada as well as Alaska and Hawaii remained fairly quiet today.

The San Francisco Bay Area remains quiet in spite of the increase in instability in the area. Only the very smallest of quakes are occurring in the area. One of these days I will figure out why things happen the way they do, or don’t do. Good English, say what. Take Care…Don in creepy town
