So, What do I know anyway - Don's forecast for Oregon coast
Posted by Lowell on May 07, 2002 at 15:13:13:

On May 4, Don posted a forecast for an event off the coast of Oregon.
At the time I reminded Don of the Ml 4.8 that had just occurred and
Suggested a second such event seemed unlikely at this time. Well, Don
Stuck with his forecast, and seems I was wrong again. NEIS is reporting
A Mb 4.0 slightly to the west of Don's expected epicenter this afternoon.
There is normally an error in the NEIS determined locations for events
In this region as the arrangement of local seismographs tends to make
Events look about 50-60 km closer to shore than they really are.
Don's forecast was for an event of M 3-4 at 44.6N 129.9W on May
8, 2002 +/- 2 days and 35 km.

Todays earthquake (NEIS parameters) was at

O: 07MAY2002 20:36:48 44.3N 128.9W Ml 4.0 Off Coast of Oregon

Certainly a hit in time and magnitude, and most probably as close as could
Be expected in location, given the uncertainties in the NEIS locations as
Explained above. I'd say another HIT Don. Good going.
