I have a colleague who is a Romanian geophysicist who immigrated to the U.S. more than
10 years ago. She was a living barometer of geomagnetic storms. She would get
violently ill whenever one hit even if she did not know it had occurred. Many studies
have been done relating health the 11-year cycles and specifically to geomagnetic
storms. There appears to be a relation.

Immediately following the X1.2 flare last night there was a Ml 3.7 earthquake in
Porirua on the coast of Cook Strait. The IGNS on-line seismogram shows at least
two more which have not yet been parameterized occurring in the next three hours,
so apparently there was some triggering going on .
