The difference Chris, is that the handful of people who read your papers may be the
movers and shakers of the world of geology/geophysics. What you say may make a
difference in the world some day. What is said by a student in a college dorm room
will be a five second sound bite forgotten as quickly as it was heard. Hard work does
pay off, but patience is needed.
We had snow up at my place in the Colorado Rockies last night - not much, but
enough to remind us that it is still Spring. But today is beautiful and sunny - if we
can put up with the disappointments in life, we can enjoy the rest.
