Two additional moderate to strong earthquakes occurred this morning. The first was a Mb
5.6 in the South Sandwich Islands. This was followed about 2 hours later by a Mb 6.4
on the Coast of Central Chile. The daily summary had noted the possibility that the
string of unusual earthquakes along the central U.S. may have been associated with
earthquakes in Central Chile as well as the other possibility of a Mexican earthquake.
