Hey Michael: Actually, I think you mentioned it below...I was just running with it.... Well, scientifically "proving" it's a hot spot will be another matter. I still have hopes that Roger will also build a program to do ringmap probability statistics. Maybe dividing the world up into 3 x 3 boxes and geting background rates per box for each range of quakes woould be a first set-up step (e.g. mag 1-2, 3-4,5-6, etc.) These would then be recallable for getting the probability per ring by adding the relevant boxes up. The findings might be surprising ... then again maybe not.... Are programming a database ? Nosey as usual, .02
